Assignment 2 - 1900's Fashion

For the second assignment, we immersed ourselves in a comprehensive study of the diverse epochs that have shaped the landscape of fashion. My chosen era of exploration unfolded within the grandeur of the early 20th century, delving deeply into the captivating allure of the Edwardian era, spanning from the dawn of the 1900s through to the illustrious 1909s.

The Edwardian era, characterized by its opulence and refinement, marked a pivotal moment in fashion history, where elegance and sophistication reigned supreme. This period saw the emergence of sartorial trends that encapsulated the transition from the elaborate Victorian styles to the more relaxed silhouettes that would define the later Belle Époque.

Through meticulous research and analysis, I uncovered the intricate nuances of Edwardian fashion, from the luxurious fabrics and ornate embellishments to the evolving shapes and structures that adorned both men's and women's attire. The era's penchant for tailored suits, elaborate gowns with high collars and lace trims, as well as the introduction of innovative fabrics and techniques, all contributed to its enduring influence on contemporary fashion.

By studying this era, I gained a deeper appreciation for its cultural impact and its role in shaping the trajectory of fashion evolution.

The figure captured in the image is Mitzi Dalti, renowned for her roles as a comedy theater actress during the early 1900s. Despite the scarcity of documented details about her performances, navigating through the archives proved to be a challenge. However, through diligent research and perseverance, I successfully pieced together the puzzle of her theatrical repertoire.
